Involvement in US FIRST robotics competition creates “winners” well beyond those who triumph in the robotics events. This year, over 300,000 participants will be eligible for awards of scholarships in excess of $16 million.
The anacronym FIRST, used by the nonprofit organization that runs the nations premier scientific competition for high school students stands for “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.” The name fits and they wear it well. FIRST’s 2013 robotic competition is is full swing and the national championship is later this spring.
